Hi, so i have been playing gta v for a long time now and have always had around 40 to 60 fps (depends where i am on the map) now it didnt really bother me until i see other people's footage who have steady 60 with 'lesser' components.

Im running gta on my ssd with a i7 7700k (not oc) a gtx 1080 with 16gb of ddr4 ram at 3000mhz on windows 10.

a 1080p monitor (144hz) with settings on high/ultra in gta.

i have no idea what the issue is and have tried reducing the settings in gta to normal and low but it doesnt change much. I am assuming there is a bottleneck or a malfunction somewhere but not sure where to look.

Not denying there might be an issue but correct me if im wrong, something I've wondered, do recording software have the ability to filter jitters or similar?

Regarding the issue, it'll most likely be software (usually is).

Windows settings, background apps, updates, Game bar (if Win 10) and power plans.

GeForce drivers; Driver performance is always changing, better or for worse for some titles. Some say 388xx series performe the best for 10 series but obviously aren't listed at GeForce.com anymore, perhaps elsewhere. Latest is not always best but when you do find an updated driver that runs well always archive it.

GeForce Experience; If use this to install drivers or optimise games, I'd advise against it. Optimising is best done...

May try enable half sync in GTA5 and see if there's improvements. NvidiaCP's vsync set to application control.
