I've recently built a new machine and plugged in the beautiful MSI gtx980ti, overclocked my 5820k to 4.3Ghz and went on to play GTAV. I was very disappointed to find out that this 6GB card cannot handle this game at all ULTRA + 8xMSAA, I get fps drops from 60 to 35 and am really not happy with it. I know I might be picky here, but I spent a ton of money on this card and would expect Tito handle everything for the next year at least. Please tell me guys if it's the card problem that it is weak for GTAV or it's a software (optimisation) problem?

Solution
Me. I have the same card and I have GTA5 and play at 1080p on max settings. Mine runs a bit better then 35 t 60 fps. That's attributable to the added ram and overclocked processor.

GTA 5 does not solely run on the GPU. Overclocking the CPU can have measurable impacts on the performance of the game. He's running stock clocks.

Oh my apologizes. Early morning. I mixed your thread up with a similar thread I was replying in.

GTA V is well optimized but with the large open world, and all that Anitalising...
Ill try to find that thread where folks were discussing gta5 utilizing over 6gb of vram.
