Hi everyone,

Summary:
AMD A6-6400B w/ Radeon HD 8470D = no glitch Genshin Impact
AMD A6-6400B + GTS 450 = glitch Genshin Impact
AMD Athlon II X4 860K + GTS 450 = glitch Genshin Impact

When I play Genshin Impact, the environment & texture flickers, graphic glitches and would crash even with low settings. However, there's no glitch when I play Flyff (very old MMORPG) even when I use the highest settings. The GPU I use is GTS 450. At the start of playing Genshin, there's usually no glitch yet. But as I continue and after a few minutes, they start appearing. I tried recording my game play and started with low settings and increased it bit by bit until glitches show. Butthen when I lowered the settings, the glitches are still there. Is this related to temperature? Like the higher the temp (as the game progresses), the more glitches appear? I saw my gpu temp rise to 60+ to 71 degrees celcius. But other times, glitches already appear even if the gpu is just at 50+ degrees celcius.

One thing to note here is, if I remove the gpu, and rely on the integrated graphics of my AMD A6-6400B, I can play Genshin okay and without any glitch (low-mid settings). Of course, in Flyff there is also no problem but I definitely notice a lot of gaming performance increase in Flyff when the gpu is installed. But again, if I put the gpu back, I (and my nephews) can't enjoy Genshin.

So, is it the GTS 450 that has problems? Why is a power & graphics hungry game like Genshin work okay with A6-6400B without dedicated gpu, but not when GTS 450 is installed? Same glitches also appear if I pair this gpu with Athlon II X4 860K.

So how do I fix this? Your ideas and tips will be greatly appreciated.

When posting specs to your build, this would be simple;
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

CPU-Z doesn't tell us what the make and model of your PSU nor it's age, which is why you need to mention that bit of info. As for your rams are you working with two identical sticks of ram? Did you use DDU to uninstall your GPU drivers prior to dropping in the GT450 into your build? Once in the system, you're advised to manually reinstall the latest driver sourced from Nvidia in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Might wan to also state the specs to your Athlon II X4 860K build as well, if the specs are different to your APU build.

Hi @Lutfij ,

I was about to edit my post when I saw there's a reply. So thank you.

There's an update. I put back the Athlon II X4 860K and paired with the GTS 450. Somehow, I managed to play Genshin for about an hour without crashing. Just minor glitches when I turn up the setting and it would disappear when I lowered back.

My concern now is, while gaming, the CPU temp gets steady at 64 degrees C. Is that okay or is it alarming (coz I see that from Core Temp the max should be at 70)? I'm using a stock AMD cpu cooler.

Also, the gpu temp is at 71. Is that fine too?

I restarted the PC and played again and this time the first instance the game crashed. The 2nd instance, no crash, but graphic glitches appeared even at the same settings I used when I was able to play for about an hour earlier.
