I am buliding a 400$ gaming pc and I need to pick a gpu. I have narrowed it down to a Gtx 1050 2 gb and a RX 550 4 gb. I can't pick between the two gpu's and I need to pick fast.
The 1050 is a better pick IMO. It would be better to choose between the 1050 and the RX 560, those cards are far more in line with each other. I'd still go to the 1050 as long is it wasn't a ZOTAC (seem 3 failed 1050 ZOTACs in as many months).

1050 is better: http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=3881&gid2=3794&compare=AMD%20Radeon%20RX%20550%204GB-vs-Nvidia%20GeForce%20GTX%201050%20KFA2%20OC%202GB
why would the gtx 1050 be better if the 550 has more v ram

The 1050 is better than the rx 560 benchmarks wise but RX 560 has more V-Ram on it personally i would save up a bit more and aim to get a 1050ti which is another £30 but still worth it , if it does go into around the £155 price zone i wouldnt even go for it because a 1060 is better and bit a more , but overall the 1050 is better than rx 550 and 560.
Vram is key if game is using that much ram, however, if gpu is too weak, it can not use that much vram which makes vram useless. For example, 1050 100gb vs 1080 11gb, which one will you pick?
