I am going to buy an Asus FX553VD laptop it's having i7 7700HQ and gtx 1050, a friend of mine already having desktop version of same gpu, he told me that mobile version of gpus are always weaker than the desktop one, but if I am not wrong with the new nvidia's pascal lineup this desktop laptop difference has vanished and the mobile pascal versions are same as that of desktop.

My Question: Am I right or has nvidia has done some miner adjustments in gtx 1050 laptop version.

I am worried about this because I am unable to find out any benchmark of pascal's desktop vs laptop gpu lineup.

Is there any link for this benchmarks, if so then share with me.

the mobile version of 1050ti probably will perform about the same as desktop 1050ti. but the mobile 1050 probably might end up being slower than desktop 1050. according to anandtech mobile 1050 have it's ROP being cut by half down to 16 from 32 compared to it's desktop version. i tried looking around but i can't find benchmark comparing mobile 1050 vs desktop 1050.

That's right but I finally bought it and happy with it....but cant understand how 32 rop x 40 tmu makes 640 cuda cores in desktop 1050 here's my gpu detail

that's not the way to calculate CUDA core count. pascal SM have 128 Cuda core each (except GP100). and full GP107 chip have 6 SM resulting 768 CUDA cores for fully enabled chip (GTX1050 TI). GTX1050 have 1 SM being disabled. 5x128 = 640 CUDA cores.

This thread isn't too old, but for others like me who have stumbled upon this. Here is the GPU-Z from my NV GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MOBILE (from a Lenovo Y520, for comparison to OPs "GTX 1050 Desktop" screenshot):

I will also add this is a very nice card, it performs on-par with a 9 series Desktop TI from several years ago, and these laptops can be had for less than $1000 now (I paid $900 for my Desktop TI when it was brand-spanking new, I now game on my laptop instead.)
