Hello!

A day ago or so got my brand new GTX 1050 OC, bought a DVI-D adapter for it too. Now basically what happened is that when I plug my DVI-D adapter into the video card and plug into the DVI-D my VGA cable, my monitor says that "Cable is not connected". Now my question is: I've got a button on my monitor which can change to DVI-D from VGA, but it doesn't work when the screen is black, or should I just simply put my old video card back and try to switch to DVI-D on my computer, reboot it, and change the cables (or is it possible?)

Thanks!

EDIT: apprently they baited me in the shop, I clearly told them I want an active one, but they gave me passive one instead.

Hi

Does your lcd screen support dvi input as well as vga?
If so get a new dvi to dvi cable

Disadvantage of active dvi to vga converter is graphics driver may have difficulty in detecting what is default resolution of your screen and default frequency

Active convertes often need a power supply to work reliably, possibly 5 V from a usb port

Well, I managed to realize that the shop guy has given me a passive DVI-D adapter, and I need an active one as far as I know. Also, would my 1050 work with a HDMI-VGA (active) adapter and also it works with the DVI-D-VGA (active) one as well? And yeah, I've got a DVI-D IN on my monitor, so I might buy a cable and just choose the easy way, thanks for telling me that! By the way the HDMI-VGA adapter has any kind of difficulty to detect the default resolution and the drivers? Should I just simply invest money into a DVI-D to DVI-D cable? Thanks, Mike! :)

I know about that for now. I was asking that is it worth it, that I would buy a simple DVI-D to DVI-D cable, since my monitor in-put is DVI-D and my 1050 got DVI-D in-put as well? Thanks for that anyways, appreciated it! ^^
