Question GTX 1050 ti max resolution

I just got a new monitor that has 2560 x 1080 resolution. My machine has an Nvidia GTX 1050 ti video card, which is rated at 7680X4320@60HZ max resolution. However when I go to display settings on W10, the resolution only goes up to 1920 x 1080.

I installed the latest GeForce drivers, and the Nvidia control panel also offers a max of 1920 x 1080. I tried creating a "custom resolution" of 2560 x 1080, but that letterboxed the display. How to fix this?

what the monitor make and model? what connection are you using?

It's an LG 34WL500. But I discovered I needed to install the monitor driver. It was just installed under generic PnP previously.
