GTX 1050m VS GTX 650Ti

I am planning to buy a laptop next week. The one I have in mind has a GTX 1050 and i7 7700HQ.
I dont expect much. I just want 1080p gaming with 40 or so FPS in games like -

Witcher 3 (Nvidia hairworks OFF, combination of medium and high)

GTA 5 (MSAA OFF, HIGH SETTINGS)

Would GTX 1050 be enough?

My friend has desktop with GTX 650Ti, 4th Gen i5. I want a better hardware than his, at least.
Is GTX 1050 better than 650Ti?

yes it would, not at 60fps, on high at 50 fps surely will be capable

try to get that same laptop with the 1050ti, that one has 4 gbs of vram, the 1050 only comes with 2, this will give you problems with textures

gta v in 2 gbs of vram can't be run at highest textures and all effects because there is not enough memory there, so 4 gbs is really useful

the 650 ti is ancient and slow, the 1050 should be at least twice as fast as that one
