Hi all, I am helping a friend with his PC that we have been having some issue with for a while. Recently he had purchased a new graphics card(the one mentioned int he title) as we believed that his old one might have been faulty. Now his system specs are as follows in case that is the issue.
Processor: FX-6350 (with sufficient cooling.)
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
RAM: 8GB DDR3 PNY (I cant remember which speed it is at the moment but i will add that when i get it)
GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 3GB
Memory: 128gb Samsung 840EVO SSD and a 1TB WD Blue HDD
PSU: EVGA 750 Watt (cant remember the exact model)
Note: We did update the motherboards BIOS to make sure there was no issues there.
All parts have been recently replaced so they are all just about new.
Now when we started by installing Windows 10 Pro and everything worked up until we installed the latest driver at the time for the card. Afterwords doing anything graphics intensive, even as small as watching a youtube video would flash black, freeze, restart the pc, or blue screen. Usually multiple of them at a time before either restarting or blue screening. Everything worked fine until the driver install which makes me think it is a driver issue. We tried multiple times to remove the driver or see if we could tweek it through settings but it got to the point where it would crash before we could complete those tasks. We tried reinstalling the OS and attempting multiple times before moving on to try Windows 7.
Currently we are running Windows 7 on the machine. We installed the OS and all drivers and it tends to work up until we try to play a game the game crashes. This goes across multiple games. Usually it will exit the games with an error code that says that the D3D device is unreachable. Also it will randomly have a popup saying that the driver has crashed but it can usually restore itself.
So, does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be and/or is there is a fix?
