GTX 1060 hmdi to vga monitor

I recently bought a monitor with vga input and then a gtx 1060 card.Im planning to connect them with hdmi to vga but im not sure what type of cable to buy because Im not familiar with them.
I also read that not all cables work... now im just confused
Anyone knows what cable type is needed?

You will need an active adaptor as the GTX10xx series do not output a VGA signal from what I've read. A HDMI to VGA cable will not work.

Don't go for those cheap cables with VGA on one end and HDMI on the other as they don't actually convert the signal.

I'd be wary of that one, it claims to be an active adapter and yet it requires no power. I have yet to see an active adapter that requires no power.
