I have a GTX 1060 system with an i5 3570k. I've heard the GTX 1060 is supposed to do really well at 1080p 60fps, but I struggle getting 60fps without stutter in modern games. The i5 3570k is at stock clocks. Is the i5 3570k bottlenecking the GTX 1060?
Also, I only have 8gb ram, could that be a bottleneck?
Games I've noticed problems in is GTA V, Civilization VI and the Sims 4. In GTA V, I will get stutters down into the 40s while driving through the city. In Civilization VI; no matter what, if I zoom all the way out I'll get drops into the 30s and 40s. Same thing in Sims 4; I can't run it on ultra without stuttering.
Some games such as Overwatch however, do perform as expected.
So if I build a new PC with more ram and a more modern CPU but still use a GTX 1060 will it fix these problems?
