Okay here's what happened.
Mobo: ASUS P8H61-M LX3 PLUS
CPU: i3-2120
RAM: HyperX 8 gb
PSU: Thermaltake SE 730W
HDD: 500gb WDblue
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Previous gpu: MSI GTX 730
New gpu: MSI GTX 1060 (tested from the shop so its not dead)
Room temperature is fine

So my computer is running perfectly, i just want to upgrade my gpu to play aaa games thats why i decided to buy a new gpu. So after I got it, these are the steps that i made:

1. Device manager
2. Uninstalled gtx 730
3. Shut down pc
4. Take off gtx 730
5. Did some dusting (pcie slot covered)
6. Plug in the gtx 1060 in the pcie
7. Plug the 8 pin power (properly plugged from the psu)
8. Plug the monitor on the card (i only have vga cord so i used a vga-dvi adapter to connect to my card, monitor doesnt support hdmi)
9. Boot up my computer

Then there is no display. The light indicator of the monitor stays on "standby"
Orange - standby, just plugged in (similar to no signal)
Yellow - on

My diagnostics:
1. Removed the gtx 1060 and placed my old. It booted up perfectly.
2. During black screen, i tried spamming alt+f4 and enter, then my pc turned off (the lights goes out and fans stopped spinning)
3. Cleared the cmos
4. No card - msconfig - boot (safe minimal) - apply. yes. not restart. Shut down - put card in - still black screen (on standby mode)
5. Tried connecting both the monitor cable to mobo with card and directly to card
6. Uninstalled all nvidia programs using "add or remove programs"

Help. Im panicking I cant afford to let my money be wasted like that 🙁 (((

Don't panic. It's probably simple problem of adapter. 1060 delivers only digital signal in DVI ports, while VGA input on monitor requires analog signal. If your monitor has DVI input, just use DVI cable. Otherwise, you need active DVI-D to VGA adapter.

Old mobo (for your 2nd generation i3). You'll have to update your BIOS to the latest! Had the same problem with my MSI board and i5 2400. Had a 6950 and when i tried to install my new RX480, had the same problem (no signal, black screen). Solved it by updating my BIOS!!!

Have fun ;-)

Currently im trying it on out family tv that supports hdmi directly through the card. I already performed DDU cuz i thought it may be driver failure but unluckily its not. I still dont have a solution to this :/

The solution was given to you by Ironsounds, the 1060 does not output a VGA signal so you will need to use an active adapter or get a monitor with digital inputs.

Digital input monitor is DVI? Because the card requires DVI-D, what should I get, a monitor or a cable? Because my monitor actually has a DVI port on it I just dont have the cable.. thank you for your responses..

Okay here my monitor is: ZALMAN TRIMON ZM-M220W 2D/3D

Currently in my device manager I can see my card (card connected to mobo but monitor is connected thru the mobo outlet)

The options I have as of now is
A.) The monitor with VGA cable, i have VGA-DVI adapter too
B.) Samsung series 5 with an HDMI cable

From the MSI website (those are probably idiot too, Mr the great moderator)

- Improved AMD Graphic card compatibility.
- Improved memory compatibility.
- Support PSC B-die DDR3 Memory
- Fixed Realtek lan still can work after disable "Onboard LAN Controller" in BIOS.
- Updated VBIOS and GOP Driver.
- Hide item "IGD Multi-Monitor" when "Initiate Graphic Adapter" set to IGD.

This is the description of what the BIOS update will do!!!

Try to say now that it has nothing to do with it...

And like I said, if it has nothing to do with, explain me why it solved MY problem, that was exactly the same as his!!!

Have Fun Mr the greatness!!!

And since when was a GTX 1060 an AMD card? If the card does not have a DAC chip how is a BIOS update going to help?

MERGED QUESTION
Question from Loyshii : "New card on old mobo, no display help"

ASUS P8H61-M LX3 PLUS sorry i forgot to include in OT

Stop spamming the forum with duplicate threads, one is enough.

You were given enough POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO help resolve your situation and the thread is now closed. Any further disrespect towards the Mod Team from other members will result in a PERMA-BAN.

By the way Some H61 chipset motherboards will not run some of the newer cards mainly NVIDIA.
