Gtx 1060 vs rx 480 8GB [1080p]

I'm buying my GPU. Until now I was sure to go with the gtx 1060. But when I saw a video on Vulcan and DX12, I started to be concerned. I want the card to last for 4 years and give me 1080p 60-40fps performance. Which is the better option. I'm only 13, and I need help. Rest of my build:

They're close in performance (1060 has maybe a 10% edge on the 480). Techspot gives their choice to the 3GB version of the 1060, while Tom's gave it to the 4GB version of the 480. It's not so much a budget question as price question: as long as the GTX 1060 is more expensive than the 480, you can buy either one & be reasonably happy. It's only if you buy the RX 480 & you pay more than if you'd bought the 1060 that you have to worry about overspending.

That being said, 4 years is a long time for a GPU to both last & still maintain its performance level. Today's mainstream/mid-level cards (like the 1060 & 470/480) are outperforming higher-level cards from 2 or even 3 years ago, because that's how technology moves. But you should be comfortable for at least 2 more years, & by the time you're pushing 4 years you'll probably have replaced the rest of your system anyway (or probably even bought a new monitor with a larger resolution).

I prefer the overall performance of the 1060 6GB.

All things being about equal, I would go with the 480 only because as prices come down you can always add another 480 to crossfire them...That option is a no with the 1060. Of course if you can get a1070 now do it.
