Hey
I bought a Hyundai monitor but it only has a VGA port. Ive been looking through the converters and I was wondering if the USB power thing is necessary. Could you guys help me out? I wouldn't like to spend that much for a USB powered one because it's like $20 in Hungary and the monitor was $30 lol.

Solution
You'd need an "active" adapter, which can convert the digital signal (DVI-D, DP, HDMI) to analog (VGA).

At a minimum, you'd looking at probably $25 for something that should actually work.
HOWEVER, if you only spent $30 on the monitor, that's not really viable.

If I were you, I'd try to sell the monitor and recoup your ~$30.
In most regions, you can find a pretty basic 1080p monitor with HDMI for ~$60-$70.
