Just bought Geforce GTX 1060 and after installation only getting blank black screen with no signal.
Im thinking it has to do with the fact that my computer is a VGA only monitor, now I think I have to get some sort of adapter to be able to use it but im stuck as to which one to buy. My pc has both a VGA port and a dvi-d port but im only able to use the VGA since that's what my monitor has. (Hopefully this helps in clarifying?)
Im fairly new at computers and apologize if anything im saying is misleading at al
And I don't think purchasing another monitor would be a solution for me considering I just broke my wallet paying for this new card.

Can you please pas son your full system's specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:

Seeing how you mentioned that the GPU was purchased new, is it an upgrade? What are you upgrading from? Did you uninstall your previous GPU drivers before removing your old GPU and installing your GPU?

I don't see what their specs has to do with their question....here I go again, questioning a moderator 🙂

I'm going to assume the OP has been using the integrated graphics and has now put the card in. I'm reasonable confident by the comment "My pc has both a VGA port and a dvi-d port", this tells me they've still got the monitor plugged into the motherboard.

Ok, some computer basics, you need to plug your monitor into the graphics card or you'll get a blank screen. If the card doesn't have the port you need (the 1060 doesn't have VGA) then you need an adaptor. As VGA is analog and the 1060 doesn't output an analog signal, you need an "active" adaptor.....either HDMI to VGA or Display port to VGA, but they need to be "active".

Alternatively, now might be a good time to upgrade to a modern higher resolution monitor.

would this be suitable? And yes before this my pc was just running on integrated graphics, so I didn't have to take anything out before installing it. I had gone to best buy to purchase it and brought my specs and the member told me that my computer would be compatible, and to just take it off apu graphics after installing otherwise it wouldn't make a difference. But if it would help I could pull up my specs and post them here just to double check.

Sorry for the late reply, got busy and forget to check for new messages.
Yes that adaptor looks fine if your card has DVI (some don't, but I think the PNY cards do). You may've ordered it by now for all I know. It doesn't actually specify that it's active but it will be as the VGA isn't a simple plug on the end of a cable, there will be some electronics in there.
