Gtx 1060 xtreme has 8 pin but i have 6

So i bought a gigabyte gtx 1060 xtreme that has 8 pin power connector but i only have a 6 pin
So i wanted to know can i use the 6 instead of the 8 i am not planning to overclock
Cpu i5 4460 3.2 ghz
Motherboard gigabyte h81m e34
Psu 500w

Well, you COULD use adapter, BUT getting new power supply is probably better, and definitely safer option.

A 500w PSU that doesn't have at least one 6+2 PCIE cable to power a card , must be very poor quality.
