GTX 1070 8GB DVI port not working (HDMI works fine)

So just a quick summary:
GTX 1070 - DVI and HDMI ports
my monitor - DVI and VGA port
integrated graphics card - DVI, VGA, HDMI port
my tv - HDMI
monitor-to-pc cable: DVI

So I just got my GTX 1070. I put it in the pc and through my integrated graphics card I installed all drivers.
Then I unplugged the cable form my integrated graphics card and plugged it to the GTX (DVI)
I got no signal even after restarting. So I took the PC downstairs and plugged it to the TV using a HDMI cable just to check if the GTX works at all...
It worked fine. I can get signal form HDMI but I still get no signal from the DVI port
if I connect monitor to integrated graphics card (using DVI) it works RELATIVELY fine (I get some green pixels and lines here and there but the image is still transmitted)
if I try connecting the DVI to GTX I still don't get any signal...
My PC knows when to switch graphic cards (before I bought this GTX I used R9 Radeon 270x and I used VGA ports and I could switch between the graphics card without problem) even now when I switch the HDMI (form the tv) between integrated and GTX it works fine and I don't have to change anything in BIOS
all the GTX drivers are updated

so I wonder could the old DVI cable cause this problem (even if it transports image from the integrated graphics card)
or is he DVI port on the GTX broken (I have no other monitors with DVI so I can't test it)

Solution
The fact that connecting from the integrated dvi adapter to the monitor works, but poorly indicates to me that your dvi cable may be at fault.
See if a high quality dvi cable does any better.
It is unlikely that the integrated adapter would cause such issues.

DVI dual link is only necessary for resolutions higher than 1080P

I'm using old DVI-D single link (both ends) even though the GTX uses dual link but I read on the internet that it should not create problems... monitor also has DVI-D dual link

monitor uses the same DVI-D dual link ad GTX but I'm using DVI-D single link (but I read it should not make any problems)

Three scenarios are possible: DVI port at monitor is broken; DVI port at card is broken; or cable is not working with your card for some reason. You would need to test another cable and another monitor to exclude two options, unless you can test different card (or different PC) with your cable and monitor.

well the monitor DVI should not be broken (or at least not completely since the image is transported from integrated graphics cart, it's just messy)

so it's probably the communication between the cable and the DVI card port or the whole DVI card port is not working...
anyways tomorrow I'll buy a HDMI (PC) to DVI(monitor) cable and see if that works... since I know that the HDMI on the card works... I just hope the random green pixels are caused by the cable or integrated graphics card port... I really hope it's not the DVI port on the screen...
