Hi guys, I am a long time console player shifting to pc; and need help building my first rig. I am going to be playing at 1080p for the foreseeable future with no plans to move to 1440p or 4k. I want this pc to last atlest 4/5 years, playing most games at high settings on 1080p with 60fps. The components that i selected are....
-Intel Core i5 6500 LGA1151 Socket 3.20GHz Processor
-MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
-EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0 8GB GDDR5
-(Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB 2133MHz DDR4 RAM) x 2
-Samsung 250GB 750EVO SSD SATA III
-1 TB HDD
I have a lot of questions that I need help with.
Do all my components work with each other (for e.g my cpu should not be bottlenecking my graphics card). Will this setup last me for another 4/5 years with 1080p 60fps like I want. will adding an i7 significantly increase my gaming performance. Can a GTX 1060 last 3/4 years for 1080p 60fps. If yes, then I might consider a 1060 instead of a 1070.

Solution
First of all that MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard will not work with the i5, it's an AMD motherboard! Get something like a MSI B150M Gaming Pro, the i5 6500 is not overclockable, therefor you don't need a super high end board.

the gtx 1070 will last you 3/4 years on 1080p, not all those years on ultra ofcourse, Personally I would say, 2/3 years at ultra, then 1/2 years at high and another year at medium. I bought my own 1070 in the hope of doing that. At 60fps the i5 6500 will do, though an i7 6700 will remove any possible bottleneck and will last you also 4/5 years, as the i7 2600, which is 5 years old already is still holding up today.

Some benchmarks of my system, i7 4790+ gtx 1070 at 1080p:
star wars battlefront Ultra= 100+fps average...

Far cry Primal Ultra= 80+fps average
Witcher 3 Ultra (no hairworks)= 80+fps average
DOOM Ultra= 90 fps average

Personally I would say if you want to play for 4 years, get the 1070, it's a very good card. The i5 6500 will do, it also depends on what games you play. In Battlefield 1 the i7 6700 will give a higer average framerate than the i5 6500. While other games like Witcher 3 even an i3 6100 will be able to push the 1070 to 99% usage.
