GTX 1070 Battlefield 1 Low FPS

I bought a new gtx 1070 from EVGA and the performance is unexpected.
On Ultra I get 50fps with frequent frame drops , and at one point I lowered it to low and I was getting 40fps.
specs:
gtx 1070
i5 4460
8gb ram 1600mhz

BF1 stresses out even the best i5's , yours is an older weaker i5. It's your cpu limiting performance.

you need an i7 with 16gb of ram for bf1

Up to you. It's just 1 game, one of the more cpu heavy games. You could drop in a 4770 or 4790. You also want to sell your 8gb and buy a 16Gb RAM kit, BF1 can stutter on 8Gb.
