I am trying to decide what 1070 to buy (I'm in Canada btw). I'm think of picking up an ASUS non founders model and am deciding between:

The ROG edition:

Or the regular Strix edition:

The ROG edition is 30 dollars more but comes factory overclocked and presumably better binned (maybe). Is it worth it to spend the extra money? The promotion information is exactly the same for both so I believe that they're basically the same. Does that mean I can OC the cheaper version myself and get the performance of the more expensive card.

Also, if anyone thinks that there is a better alternative out right now let me know. This is the list of 1070s currently available where I live. I'd like to pixk one up that is in stock now.

Yes you can, but remember, you are going to void the guarrante.

For me, i would go for the cheaper one. almost every GTX 1070 performs same so, its your choice if that 30 bucks worth the performance boost or no.

I agree.
GPU Boost 3.0 makes overclocking less effective at giving performance boosts as we can see through maxwell overclocks compared to this current generation.
Its honestly better to go for the standard edition and do a small modest overclock in OC mode to achieve the same clock speeds, shouldn't be too much of an issue.
The G1 gaming is probably the best value globally, but whatever is more visually appealing to you will be fine. :)
