Gtx 1070 FTW lowish fps

I recently bought a evga gtx 1070 ftw and was expecting to see 144 fps+ with my new 144hz monitor that I purchased as well. However when I started to use the graphics card I would play games such as overwatch and saw that it would run only at 100-110 on the lowest settings or the highest settings. V-sync isn't on, my pc is on "high performance" and my power supply is a cooler master 500. My friend bought a gtx 1050 ti a little bit after I bought the 1070 and we played overwatch together, in the same situations he was getting more fps than me, like 170-190 and I don't know why, our cpu's are fairly similar, (I have a i5 4440 3.10, my friend has i5-4670K) and he has basically the same specs. Help would be appreciated.

also, your cpu probably is bottlenecking it. i would suggest a i7 6700k.
