Question gtx 1070 low fps in BF5

Hello there,

Been having a weird issue lately. Whenever I play BF5 multiplayer and singleplayer im only getting the following fps on 1080p:
low: 95
medium:85
high: 65-70
ultra:50-60

My gpu keeps running at 60-70% usage, doesnt go to 99%.
Ive really checked everything I can think of, temps are fine on both cpu and gpu. Im not having this issue with other games either and in those other games my gpu actually goes to 99% usage, games im talking about are Fortnite, Sea of thieves and Just Cause 3.
DX12 is off, as are all the other non usefull settings. First I thought it might be my cpu bottlenecking, but my cpu is also running at 60-70% and when I change visual settings I do see fps increase.

I even did a fully clean install with w10, thinking that might be a good idea after 4 years of use, but no difference. Ofcourse I updated all my drivers etc and im running on the newest version of w10.

As far as I know my 1070 should be able to run the game at ulta 1080 around 70-80fps, or am I just wrong? when I check other youtube vids the gpus are always running at 99%.

my setup:
i7 4790
Gtx 1070 FE not OC
16gb ram 4x4 1600mhz
1tb SSD
Antec vpf 550w psu
w10

As seen above your card is performing terrible.

So there is some basic steps you will need to take and check.

First make sure you have the latest drivers for your GPU, from there on you will have to go into the Nvidia control panel and have a look at the settings for the game. If you have custom settings BF5 might be set to low usage...meaning the card will never max out...and this you can set for each application or game you have...you will find this in your 3D settings. Best would be to reset all those settings for default use.

Let me know what your findings is.

Yes I have the latest drivers already. Even reinstalled my pc, didn't help.

Other games though are running fine. Only BF5 has this weird issue.

Never had any issues with any game with this setup, that's why im frustrated by it. 😛

Okay, so next you would look into 3D settings and customize it yourself.

  1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigate to Manage 3D Settings
  2. Select the tab Program Settings and find Battlefield 5. If you can not find it, click on Add and try to find it here. (try running the game first and close it down again if you can not find it)
  3. Set Maximum pre-rendered frames to 1
  4. Set Monitor Technology to G-SYNC (if applicable)
  5. Set Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration to Single display performance mode
  6. Set Power Management Mode to Prefer maximum performance
  7. Set Texture filtering – Quality to Performance
  8. Disable Vertical Sync
  9. Enable Threaded Optimization
  10. Set Preferred Refresh Rate to Highest available
  11. Apply the changes and navigate to Adjust desktop size and position
  12. Check the checkbox Override the scaling mode set by games and programs and click on Apply.
