Hi, I'm planning a ryzen 5 1600 and gtx 1060 build to game at 1080p. The 1070 costs nearly double here, is the extra money worth it? Does the 1060 do well in 1080p?
Thank you
Yes, an SSD helps. A lot. It's not just boot times - it's the overall responsiveness of your PC. When you open a browser, a Word file, even an mp3 file, the speed at which it opens is noticeably different. Your system becomes snappy, you actually do notice the difference. If you can afford it, an SSD will absolutely make a difference.
The GTX 1060 will max out just about any current game at 1080p. The gtx 1070 would be overkill for 1080p@60fps. Save your money and stick with the gtx 1060.

Unless you have a high refresh rate monitor, the 1060 is the better choice. If you have a monitor with >=120 Hz refresh rate, then the GTX 1070 will be better as it is powerful enough to handle that refresh rate. However, if your monitor is 60-100 Hz, the GTX 1060 6 GB is great for 1080p@60 Hz gaming. It will perform extremely well in all games, and you'll be able to play at at least high settings in all games, sometimes higher. So depending on your monitor's refresh rate, pick the card that suits your needs.
Thanks guys! I'll stick with a 1060. Also, is an ssd really worth it? I can get a 120GB but I cant really put games on it, does it help for boot times and overall speed?

yes a ssd is totally worth it. i had a toshiba with just a hdd and it was okay but then i got a new computer with a ssd and the difference was incredible. it was so much faster and not only faster but because ssd's have no moving parts, they are much more reliable and handle transport much better then hhds that have a rapidly spinning disk.
also my boot time went from a few minutes to a few seconds and downloading and moving files is a breeze
