go with a 1080, by end of year expect the next generation. The 1080 will do the job well for 2 yrs. 1070 will show its age sooner. good luck. I'm running 3 980ti's at 5K ultra and they run everything at ultra and they are pushing 4 yrs. GPU's are coming back to normal as well.

New cards being announced in a few months, i'd wait.

Many people saying these new cards coming out and yes there going to be much better but the graphic cards we have now the 1070-1080ti will still run games. There always going to be better GPU coming out no matter what GPU we Pick!

Personally, wait for the new cards. You could pick up some GTX 10-series models for cheap used.

Or, just go with 9-series models. You don't always need the very best, and used is the very best way to get a good price-to-performance ratio.

Sure, but these are two and three year old gpus we are talking about, i wouldn't spend money on old tech even if it's being presented as new. I wouldn't listen to what nvidia is telling us, they want you to buy the old stock at raised prices.
