Gtx 1070 or Gtx 1080 for 1080p @120 fps

Just as the title says i wanna play demanding games at 120 fps at 1080p is gtx 1070 enough or i need to go for gtx 1080 by the way i wont be applying anymore than 2xmsaa and i've taken care of all others things like cpu and psu so plzzz dont ask about that

1070 is probably fine.

The 1070 is capable of 1440p smoothly, so 1080p is a walk in the park.

The 1080 is nice, but overkill for your needs, it would seem.

I don't know what is demanding, but DOOM maxed out runs ~170FPS on 1080p with GTX 1070

yes, well, it would help to know your full PC specs, but since you said you have it taken care of: yes.

Even something like the 980 is excellent for 1080p gaming, so the 1070, being made for larger resolutions, can handle 1080p ezpz

If you're the kind of person who wants to be able to play any game with max settings at close to 120 fps, probably want to go with a 1080. From what I remember, a 1070 can't even average 60 fps in the Witcher 3 with everything turned up (although a 1080 wouldn't be able to get 120 fps in that situation either). If you're willing to turn some settings (AA like you mentioned, also stuff like Hairworks), you can probably get away with a 1070.

is there a particular game you're looking to get that performance from, or just a generic "as many games as possible"? For example, you only need a GTX 780 to get that performance from Overwatch (http://www.techspot.com/review/1180-overwatch-benchmarks/page2.html), so either of those cards would be overkill; OTOH, a GTX 1070 is right on the money for getting that performance in Star Wars: Battlefront (http://www.techspot.com/review/1182-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070/page3.html); but for Ashes of the Singularity there's just no single card that can reach that (http://www.techspot.com/review/1182-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070/page4.html).
