[SOLVED] GTX 1070 or RTX 2060?

Title says it all.

System now.

Ryzen 7 1700x
16gb ram
240gb ssd
2 1tb drives
750 watt powerspec PSU 62.5amp
RX 590 Fatboy

So recently bought the RX 590, like last friday before they announced the RTX 2060. So I've been thinking I would not mind an RTX 2060, especially since they release on the 15th. Had thought about RX 3080, but saw that they are launching a Radeon VII for nearly 700 to compete with the 2080. That's definitely out of the price range.

So waiting for RTX 2060 potentially, can return the RX 590 within 30 days. So basically, if I've spent 300 for a card, might as well get the best for the money right? Dealing with microcenter. Anyway, I was looking today, and they had a GTX 1070 OC Gigabyte Windforce edition come up open box for 322.

A little more backstory. At Christmas, I'd gotten a 1070 founder's edition, but it had a very loud fan, so I returned it due to that. They had no other 1070's except for closer to 400. So that's why the RX 590. So I also have a gift card with a little more on it.

So my question is, I reserved the 1070 for a price of 322 dollars. Do I bite on that and go for it and be happy a while(1920x1080 144hz)? Or should I hold firm and wait? They only will hold the 1070 for 3 days. Plus speculation is that 2060 might be above msrp. Just getting some opinions here.

Thanks!

What's so good about FOunder's ?
not saying its SOOOO good im just saying buying a 1070 for $322 seems like a bum investment when the FE edition 2060 is only $349 and you get 1070ti comparable performance.

AND of the cards priced at $349 as far as 2060s goes the FE gets my vote. if you wanna pay more of course the ROG strix or other models will out perform / out cool the FE but its a solid card and i really like the aesthetics of it as well.

Just my opinion.
I'd happily get a 1070 for $322.
Even though the rtx2060 is better by about 20% according to benchmarks, its launch price is not going to be $350, I expect around $400.
So yeah, the gtx1070 will be great for 1080p @144hz if you dont mind the lack of ray-tracing capabilities.
Other than that, make sure that the GPU is from a trustable seller (Asus, gigabyte,Msi,Evga and so on) and grab it.
Happy gaming.

Here, some benchmarks show 590 and 1070 aren't that far apart so youll probably be disappointed swapping to 1070. 1070 may give slightly better performance, 2~5 fps.

2060 appears to be on the level of a 1070Ti and by the looks of it, upto 15fps faster vs 590/1070.

Excuse me. At 1080p, 1070 in some of those games is bit more than 5fps vs 590. Was looking at 1440p.

I'm aware. At Christmas I had bought a 1070 founder's edition. But it had something going on where it was running the fan at 5200 rpm ALL the time!

I could be browsing the web, and the card sitting at 27 degrees in my rig. 5200 rpm. I was upstairs and it the system was on, I could hear the card from upstairs. So that is why I returned it. It was a great card, just the fans. And I actually have a gift card for 2p dollars from them. So literally, I should not be out of pocket much if I get it.

To be honest, I don't mind the RX 590. For that close in price I'm tempted. I ended up with the 590 because when I returned the 1070 founder's edition is originally gotten, the closest 1070 was 390 instead of the 300 I originally paid. I'll think on it, but definitely tempting to pay essentially an extra 20-30 for the extra performance.

If I do go for the card, it is a gigabyte 1070 overclocked windforce edition. I also intend on buying microcenters 2 year replacement plan so in case of any problems, I can take the card back and get a different card.

Maybe that will be a good option and give cards a while to settle down.
