gtx 1070 power question

I'm thinking on buying this video card https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487281&ignorebbr=1 can I run it ok with my current power supply? here are my pc specs. i5 4690k cpu, asus maximus vii hero motherboard, corsair h100i v2 cpu cooler, Samsung 850 evo 500gb ssd drive, wd 7200 1tb hard drive, Seagate sshd 1tb 2.5" hard drive, 4x4 16gb of gskill ripjaws x 1.5v cas 9, two led 120mm fans, corsair cx600m power supply.

I have same power supply, I would not trust a new 1070 to it. it should have the power...

I think its a couple of years old. the 1070 specs calls for a 500 watt power supply.

You want to spend $500 on a water cooled 1070? You could get a 1080 for right around that price, that would be a much better choice.

600watts is more than enough for a 1070 or 1080. If that power supply has been in use for several years you may want to consider replacing it, it is not a quality unit.

I have a brand new rosewill hive 750 watt modular power supply. I could use that.

two things:
1. technically this power supply is way more than enough. your system under gaming load will pull about 200-250w from the wall.
2. this particular PSU is kinda on a lower end in terms of quality and reliability.

it's not about corsair, it's about the old CXm (green lable) PSUs that are not that good.
RMx series is an excellent PSU.

Corsair does not make that power supply nor any power supplies. They just spec it out and put their label on it. The CX650M was made by CWT (Channel well technology) not corsair.

Like most companies that sell power supplies corsair has some good psu's and some less than good psu's. I would say pretty much any green label CX unit is in the less than good category.

It's not a bad PSU it's just a bit mediocre. It being several years old makes me think it might be worth replacing just to be on the safe side. However it would likely keep working well for a while longer.

ill probably change it out soon. it has had zero issues. maybe I got a good one.
