Geforce GTX 1070 Founders Edition was working just fine. Yesterday I added it to a pcie riser and I hit the usb cable that was attached to the 1x adapter. It ended up shorting out the adapter and now my GPU doesn't work. The GPU gets power and fan spins but it doesn't get detected by the motherboard. I've tried plugging it directly into the 16x slot and still nothing. I've also reloaded bios. I have another GPU and it works fine with the riser and inserted directly into the slot.

When I put the supposedly bad GPU directly into the 16x slot and turn on the computer, I receive 4 beeps which means there is no VGA.

I guess I'm just wondering if there's anything else I can do or try. I figured it's fried but just hoping.

Thanks for any help.

Solution
Sounds like you've fried it alright. It could be that it's only blown something small like a resistor or even a in-line fuse, but unless you know what to look for or have all the testing equipment, you'll probably never find the problem yourself. What you need is someone who knows about modern electronics, and doesn't charge too much, to take a look at it for you.
