Hello everyone!
Look, in my country these cards cost the same price on the aftermarket and I'm willing to buy 1 of those. Which one should I get? Same price, literally 400$.

Solution
the 980ti and 1070 are equal in performance. the titan x is faster than both. if you are talking out the box speeds with no overclock, yes the 1070 wins. but the 1070 can only overclock roughly 20% while the 980ti/titan x overclock 40%. if you take the max safe stock bios overclock @ 80c max core temp on all cards the titan x is the clear winner here if gaming performance is the only metric.

No. Titan X would still not be the winner.
1. It is running an older architecture that is inferior to the current Pascal
2. Non-overclocked speeds lag behind the 1070
3. The Titan X is less power efficient than the 1070.

The gtx 1070 would be the best bet in my opinion. Since it has newer arcitechture, uses less power and is just overall better.

titan x@1.5ghz/1080@2.2ghz get roughly 25000 gpu score in fire strike. 980ti@1.5ghz/1070@2.2ghz get rougly 22000 gpu score in firestrike. those are the commonly known average expected overclocks you will get on air. benchmarks dont lie. quit comparing 1070 reviews with out the box overclocks to reference 980ti/titan x speeds. there are obviously many reasons to get the 1070, especially since you can get them brand new with a warranty. but dont pretend the 1070 is faster than a titan x(maxwell) because it simply is not.

that is a poor review and they didnt even break 20000 on firestrike with the 1080 nor does it have any overclocks on any cards except the pascal parts. im not arguing anything, im stating facts that are commonly known.

1080@2100mhz=24500

titanx@1486mhz=23000 gpu score

1070@2202mhz=22000

980ti@1539mhz=21500

you get the idea. you will see these numbers repeated over and over as you scale the overclocks up against each other.

i never argued the point that at reference clocks the 1070 wouldn't beat the titanx or that if the op intented on running out the box settings that the 1070 wouldnt be a better choice. but a majority will overclock to the stock bios limits and in that respect the 1070 cannot catch the titanx and is barely faster than a 980ti. the titanx also resells on usa ebay used for more than a 1070 costs new, much more. if the op can get all 3 said cards for the same price the titanx is a no brainer and is getting it for a steal.

Think of the Maxwell Titan X like having a Diablo, and the 1070 like having a Gallardo. Both are fast, both are sleek, one sucks more gas than the other and overheats like crazy, one is like a status symbol while the other is newer and just plain works. "Look at me, I have a TITAN. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

If you could get either for $400, I'd be stuck between getting the 1070 or the maxwell titan too.
