GTX 1070 with 8GB of RAM?

Hey,

I read somewhere that it was recommended to have 16GBs of RAM if you wanted optimal performance on the 1070, I'm not sure if this is valid information and just wanted to check just in case because I will be getting a 1070 with 8GBs of RAM and I do not want the RAM to bottleneck the GPU.

Also will the i5-6500 bottleneck the GPU?

System RAM and VRAM have nothing to do with each other. 8gb system ram is enough for almost any game nowadays. The i5 won't bottleneck it.

that cpu is fine with a 1070 the only thing it will have a issue with the the 1080 ti may cause a bit of a bottleneck
and the reason people say 16gb of ram is nothing to do with the gpu its saying that it will help games run better in non-graphics tasks becasue a lot of games tend to run faster with more ram but really 8gb or really even 4gb of ram is fine
