Hello pees,
What do you think of these 2 comparing? I have watched alot of videos, but nothing is really answering my question, which is,

Which Card is more future Proof/for the Buck!

Now for my case, I got a deal on the 1070Ti for $330 Brand New from Zotac. and the only option available for the 1080 in that price would be a USED 1080 ! Should I go with the 1070Ti or the Used 1080?

Thanks in advance

Solution
Get 1070ti, its only a smidgen behind a 1080. Secont hand i agree, you won't be 100% sure what you're getting. A new 1070Ti's warranty would be in your favour too.

Regarding driver support, Nvidia are still providing updates for quite a few generations back so wouldn't worry about that.

Future proof is a term used very vaguely and very unnecessarily. The moment you buy something, in the world of technology, it becomes obsolete the day after. Given how we're already knee deep in highend RTX cards and into 2019, you'll get by with a GTX1070Ti/GTX1080/GTX1080Ti for about 2 years before running into driver support issues. This will also depend on how much game developers favor cards like yours into the future with or without the use of improved game engines.

I wouldn't pick up used cards out of fear that they could have been used for mining unless you can prove that the cards were used for gaming alone.

GTX1070Ti gets my vote but if you spend $200 more you're in RTX 2070 territory..

Performance-wise:
1080 and 2070 are a like, aside the raytracing and the other new stuffs.
1070ti is about 8% weaker than 1080 on average.

Price-wise:
1070ti is the more interesting one. It could go up to €100 cheaper than a 1080.
2070 goes over the top on pricing. I would stay away from any of 2xxx cards for now in general. By the time the new features became mainstream, you are already on your way looking for newer and better cards. No need to pay premium for the ray tracing, etc. they are quite useless for now.

Between brand new 1070ti and 1080, I would rather pick brand new 1070ti.

Hi,

1080 is faster than a 1070ti especially in higher than 1080p resolution. But they just revealed the 2060 and it seems to be faster than 1070ti and will continue to get faster for a while still as DLSS and other driver improvements come out. I would definitely at least wait for official benchmarks before buying, also because the 2060 will pull the price down. Available 15th of Jan. https://www.engadget.com/2019/01/07/nvidias-349-rtx-2060-gpu-is-more-powerful-than-a-1070-ti/

One thing to note that the 2060 has only 6Gb of RAM vs the 1080s 8Gb. It is a marginal decision in my opinion. Between the 1080 and 1070ti I would get the second hand 1080 (as long as it still has warranty), but once the 2060 is out prices will drop further ($349) and a 1070ti might be bargain afterwards. I would wait a few weeks and see.

Hey guys,

First, I would like to THANKS all of you for taking the time to write an answer for the thread!

I have gone with 1070ti for now as I got it for $300 or "299" Brand new Zotac. As I have checked the 2060 Benchmarks, with same or ~6% better performance than 1070ti http://hwbench.com/vgas/geforce-rtx-2060-vs-geforce-gtx-1070-ti.

I was already planing to game on 1080p and these are my specs for the new build I got!
