Can anyone help me with this problem im having. I upgraded my GPU from a 970 to a 1080 and my 1080 is performing at the same or worse levels. I have massive frame drops in games I never had them in. I'm only getting 60-90 fps in overwatch maxxed out and it sometimes dips to 30 or lower. CSGO stays at 40-60 (was 100-120 with my 970). I nuked the drivers and reinstalled. Switched PCIe slots in my mobo (helped a bit) Changed settings in Nvidia control panel. And I don't know what else to do. The temps are fine, I havent seen any bottlenecking ocure, and i'm close to just returning the card.

My Specs.
i7 3770k
Asus Strix 1080
24gb 1600mhz
ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z
750w psu

Any help to try and fix this issue would be appreciated

Solution

Tell us the GPU usage in game.
Have you tried upgrading your drivers using GeForce Experience ?

I've tried both with GFE and without.
https://gyazo.com/f6b38ebf22fbd2f190c3c76cd883fe5b these are my temps and GPU usage, During cutscenes it sometimes spikes to 100%

Thats a bit hot, you should check if your graphics card is thermal throttling. When GPUs are too hot, they lower their clock speeds to run cooler, which means you get lower performance at 100%.
