I was wondering if a GTX 1080 would be compatible with my current system.

CPU: i5 4690K
GPU: GTX 970
Mobo: Asus Z97K
RAM: 2x 4GB DDR3

If not, any part upgrade recommendations? (Also link where to buy if possible)

THANKS!

Looking compatible so far from what you have listed, but you need to confirm two things.

1. The length of the GPU will fit. Probably OK since you have a 970 in there now. You'll want to go to your case's user manual or to the homepage and find out the max gpu length supported. Then make sure you buy a 1080 that doesn't exceed that length.
2. That your PSU can handle it. Again, probably ok assuming it's handling the 970 now. What make/model is your PSU?

Minor points, but worth confirming before you buy to be sure.
