IM CURRENTLY USING GTX 970 AND PLANNING TO UPGRADE MY GPU. MY PROCESSOR IS I5 6500 SKYLAKE.
SO HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS

IS 1080 TOO MUCH FOR 1080P? I WANT TO GET A GPU WHICH IS FUTUREPROOF FOR AT LEAST 3-4 YEARS..

WILL IT BOTTLENECK THE CPU?

Solution
At 1080p the CPU but most likely your screen will bottleneck.
An i5 gets you 75-110 FPS on modern demanding titles on average
A 1080 even more than that
A 60Hz screen only displays 60fps

So at 1080p a 1080 would be kinda wasted imo
If you are just planning on staying at 1080p, then I would just stick with a GTX 1070. The 1080p is really overkill for 1080p.
However, if you are ever going to change out your monitor for one with a high refresh rate or higher resolution, then the GTX 1080 would be best.

Your CPU is fine for these cards.
