GTX 1080 FTW Fans off?

Hey so I just picked up a GTX 1080 FTW card, and I was wondering is there any way to turn off the fans on the card when it is in idle? The lowest fan speed percentage in evga precision x is 15%, is this how it is supposed to be?

Usually at baseline (without any intervention of Precision X or Afterburner), Nvidia has their cards set up to not turn on the fans until the cards hit 60C or so.

It should auto turn off, however I wouldn't bother. I hate the auto off feature, it's ruined one of my graphics cards fans, only run it if you manually update the fan profile.

Is there a way to update the BIOS on the graphics card?

I forget..... is this the card with a switch onboard for fan profile?

Yes the card has a "master" and "slave" switch on the front of the card. The "slave" mode is currently switched on.

Oh thats it slave/master (its not for the fan but its the right card)

Try this....add a small overclock to mem and core. (Afterburner or Precision?)

Reboot computer.

Go back into software and reset the card to defaults again (ie remove the overclock)

Reboot computer.

If that worked you owe me a beer.

(I had one of these cards last year and this fixed it for me, but for me it was overclocking too far and a forced rebooting that 'reset' it)

Okay so I figured it out. Turns out the card needs to be set to "master" mode to be able to turn the fans off. Thanks for all the help though

I knew there was something to do with that darn switch lol
