Couple of days ago I bought Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming. So far it works perfectly and it delivers insane performance. However I have noticed that a strange sound is comming from the gpu and it happens when the gpu is not under load and when fans are not spinning.

It sounds like this: brummm brummm ......... 2 seconds pass .......... brummm brumm and than nothing. Ten or five minutes later same thing. It happens completly random. It sounds like the fan is rubbing against something. --> but that's not the case of course.

Under heavy load when gaming this sound doesn't occur and fans are spinning as they should. The gpu temps under load are around 65 to 70 degrees celsius. Also I'm using the latest drivers and windows 10 pro (clean install). My pc chassis is dust free.

What could be "wrong"????

Update....

With the help of gpuz I have found what's causing this "strange sound". When the certain temp is met (around 45c) the gpu spins fans really quickly from 0 rpm to about 1475 rpm in less than a second and then slows it down to 0 rpm again. All of this happens really fast so that’s why I’m hearing this sound. Can someone please tell me, if this is normal.

Same problem with the g1 gtx 1070,

If you install the xtreme gaming engine from gygabyte, you can put your fan speed to manual, and up the fan speed from 0 to 18% on 0-50º Temp. it keeps fans allways on at minimal rpm, and removes de sound till they upgrade the bios.
