GTX 1080 + Molex to 8 pin

Hi, I've been searching the web for a while but haven't gotten a clear answer to what I've been looking for.
I recently bought a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080, an upgrade from my R9 270x https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487245&cm_re=EVGA_GEFORCE_GTX_1080_FTW-_-14-487-245-_-Product and realized that it needed 2x8 pin power connectors. Probably going to get some hate for using raidmax but, I'm currently using https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152042 and don't really want to replace it since it's been working out so far. The PSU came with 2x 6+2 pin power connector but unfortunately, I threw the box that contained them. I emailed the manufacturer (Raidmax) if they could provide me with some spare PCIE cables but haven't gotten an answer yet. I was wondering if it was safe to use 2x molex to 8 pins in order to power up this GPU without having it die in the middle of a gaming session/burn my house down.

Count yourself lucky it hasn't exploded then do yourself and your computer a favor and buy a real psu instead of a psu shaped object. Plus adapters are not a good option.

Which PSU would you recommend for my build?

Depends on location and budget. If you are in the US and have a tight budget you can get a 520 or 620w Seasonic S12II for a good price and either is good for your specs.

It is better than the Raidmax, but that's not exactly hard to do. It's not a unit I'd buy or use to power a high end gpu. I'd say get the 520w S12II as its the same price and has enough power but it only has 1 6+2 pin connector and 1 6-pin, so it would sadly require an adapter . To be adapter free you'd have to get the 620w version which is $75.

Yeah... I just went ahead and bought the S12ii 620w, hopefully it comes soon so I can use this goodie ^^, thanks for the answers
