Hellooo!!

So OK this is so confusing right now I'm sure probably all of you know already about the 1080 and 1070 news and all that stuff. But its so weird I mean price of them and the prices of 980 ti and titan x performance less cuda cores...............

Are you guys sure that when they say ''FASTER'' than titan x that they mean faster in terms of FPS??????
I don't know I have a bad feeling. But I hope I'm wrong!

Die shrink does not affect performance directly like that. It's a completely different architecture. Just like on cpus, architectural improvements increase core performance: a sandy bridge at 3ghz loses to a skylake at 3ghz.
I'm looking at it like this. It's less Cuda cores, less transistors, but a much higher clock, and that's apparently even before we find out just how hard we can overclock them out of the box. Sure it's less cores, and less transistors, but it's also *more* advanced architecture on a smaller node, so it should run cooler. Even if it's only say 10% better for any given positive, that amounts to around a 30% gain. Wait for benchies before getting too excited, but from what I've read, and I've got SLI 980 Tis, it might be a good deal at 600$ a piece for the 1080s. Faster memory subsystem, more memory... It's a lot of improvements...
 


You are comparing Apples to Oranges.

A core count does not correlate performance. The performance boost is most possibly the die shrink, from 28nm, to 16.
