gtx 1080 question

i have some questions guys

i am gonna put the rest of my spec here

i5 6600k over clock to 4.4ghz
750w psu corsair
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)
Monitor is Acer x233h 1920x1080
Current Graphics card is a gtx 1060 6g vm

my question is, will i c a decent performance boost getting the 1080 cause i know that my monitor is old and the 1080 can run at higher resolution but its all i have right now, in other words is it worth getting and will i still see a difference in my gaming(higher fps)

if any other info is needed it will gladly get it

If you don't pan on getting a new monitor why not try a gtx 1070?
