Please note the following.

Money doesn't matter for the second card.

I already have one 1080 in this build.

2560x1080p 75hz is the current monitor, When budget allows will upgrade to 4k or 1440p 144hz. This may be awhile.

Here is my question I have tried to look at some benchmark it seems to be very hit and miss.

Most of the games that are played scale very well with SLI.

Will there be a FPS boost with the 2 1080's or it a absolute waste like the 1080ti sli at 1440p, Most games that scale well gave me worst performance with the 1080ti's.

It's questionable. You'd likely have some bottlenecking, but you will probably have decent gains over a single GTX 1080 a lot of the time.

Your CPU, while fast, cannot prevent bottlenecks at lower resolution when paired with fast GPU's. Every CPU has a FPS limit in any particular game and if you have fast enough GPU's, that limit will be met.

If you can manage to sell your GTX 1080 and get a GTX 1080ti, that would be better.

Due to circumstance I am not able to sell this card and upgrade the client to a 1080ti otherwise that would have been my first choice.

I just wish there were more benchmarks. I really do not want to add the second card if it does not gain at least a 20% improvement over a single.
