Hello! I recently purchased a 1080 ti and 1440p 144hz monitor but wanted to know what i should do in this situation.

At the moment i'm running 27" 1440p 1ms @ 144hz but i'm not seeing much of a difference in graphics for games from the switch to 1440p from 1080p

I could return the monitor and SAVE $150 and put it towards a CPU upgrade from 6700k to 8700k (But i'm not too sure if 1080p would look bad.)

I just need some advice from people who have played on 1440p, is there really a big difference in games you guys are noticing? Will 27 inch 1080p look bad? I sit about 3 / 4 feet back from my monitor.

Should i keep my 1440p or switch back with a same sized 1080p to save money?

Thank you!

Monitor:
MSI OPTIX MAG27CQ 1440P

Specs:
ASUS Z170-A
I7 6700K
GTX 1080 TI
16GB DDR4
120GB SSD
500 WATT PSU

If you do return the monitor and opt for a CPU upgrade, you're going to need a new motherboard. What rams are you working with? Better yet what are your current specs?

Your GPU can push the resolutions you're looking for however what sort of games do you play on?

I edited the post with the info, i mainly play games such as siege, csgo, gta 5, life is strange, etc...

If i'm not seeing a huge difference in 1440p while gaming would it be worth it to save money and frames by downgrading to a 27" 1080p?

I'm willing to purchase a new motherboard along with the CPU, the downgrade will just add more money to do so.

Better check your settings... I can switch back n forth between 1080p/ultra and 1440p/high and 1440p is clearly superior.

1080p at 27” can be a bit grainy - but, as far back as you are might be ok.

You cpu is still very competent, especially ovrclocked.

If i switch back in fourth there's a very SLIGHT difference with an FPS loss around 25 / 30. I'm worried about it being grainy if i return to 1080p.

My budget is anywhere from $200 - $400
