Hello, i recently purchased a GTX 1080 TI (Unfortunately can't take it back) and found out my monitor doesn't have a DP....

So i'm currently running with an HDMI cord and i'd really like to somehow get 144hz back.

Is there any possible way (Without buying a new monitor) to hit 144hz again?

Thanks!

Probably best to get a monitor with Displayport since nowadays and on...
This might do. https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16812400320

Its a little pricey but for an adapter that has positive feed back it does look promising that it works as intended.

If you look for cheaper alternatives it should be active and not passive. Powered by usb or ac.

Look at user reveiws because often your delimma is a common one and people looking for 144hz try their luck with adapters. But not all adapters are solid so best to check feedback.

The MANUAL isn't conclusive but seems to strongly suggest the HDMI connection supports 144Hz.

On EN-11 there are supposed to be ASTERISKS besides resolutions/Hz modes that you need DVD-DL for. There are none.

On EN-18 it shows an example of the information for this monitor's current connection and it shows a 24Hz input, but most importantly a 120Hz OUTPUT. And it's HDMI. So it's showing 120Hz@1080p.

Maybe that's a mistake, but let us know what options you have for HDMI.

Maybe you have to select 144Hz from the NVidia CP-> "Change Resolution" (shows resolution AND the refresh rate options)

If nothing shows a high refresh rate for HDMI then I'd contact ACER first to confirm.

OTHER:
I'm also fairly certain that 3D HDMI requires at least 120Hz refresh capability of the monitor. Using HDMI input.

I've used DVI-D in the past for 144hz on this monitor, but i don't think HDMI supports past 60hz, i even tried with an HDMI 1.4 cord.

That is a bit pricey, if it comes down to it il probably end up reselling this GPU and downgrading to a 1080 or reselling my monitor and paying a little more for one with a display port.

Thank you!

Probably best to get a monitor with Displayport since nowadays and on wards monitors continue to use hdmi and DP only, theres not much future left for DVI, makes sense to make the switch soon i suppose rather than downgrade gpu and use hdmi for the time being.

There's a reviewer of this monitor at newegg saying they didn't have any luck using a DP to DVI converter that this monitor will only accept a straight DVI to DVI for 144Hz. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009642

This person by the name of Matthew R. didn't elaborate on the adapter they used so it does give doubt if the incorrect adapter was used or it's the monitor.

Some monitors with hdmi 2 can achieve 120Hz 2D but not 144Hz.
