GTX 1080 ti SC2 /w Kraken G12

I'm trying to water-cool my SC2 with the Kraken G12 but I've begun to be confused when I see people install it they don't put thermal pads back where they used to be, does that mean just remove them overall and it'll be fine or should I ignore that and put them anyways? Also some people have said that they needed VRM Heatsinks, should I go that route and get VRM heatsinks for mine aswell or should my GPU Be fine? Lastly is it worth modding the one plate on the GPU Core area? with the 4 screw holes and 6-8Metal pins that might get in the way? using a Dremel and such or should I just remove the Front or back/whichever plate it is?

So I ended up doing it blind, I didn't need any VRM heatsinks I just left everything as is and it runs 65c under load and 30c idle
