[SOLVED] GTX 1080 Ti thermal pads

Hi!

I'm about to buy this gpu from someone I know. I want to change thermal pads but how often should that be done? I need it mostly for gaming.

Unless that card is older than decade,my answer is no. (In your situation which is 1080.)
I mean you can/dont have to change them.
Usually when people replace it is when it breaks down due to age and thermal paste replacing (opening GPU to change the paste) or accidental ripping it.

I would only change the paste/pads if the temps were high.
As far as how often....I'm running a GTX 1060 that's almost 4 years old and it's still OK at 100% usage.
