I'm currently using 2 GTX 1080 in SLI but since SLI performance has been a disappointing experiencing, I'm thinking about a single card solution.

I've read that the upcoming GTX 1080 Ti is going to be very close to the Titan X Pascal in performance and it will even have a faster base clock speed.

Since I will be using just ONE card I've got to have the fastest between those two. Should I buy now the Titan X Pascal or wait for the 1080 Ti and choose an overclocked one so I could get the same or even better performance than the Titan X Pascal.

Which GPU would you choose? Thank you!

Solution
Well really depends if you think the Titan XP is worth it for that extra memory.
It's also quite hard to tell without the 1080ti being out, we guess that it's going to be like the 980ti but we cant be certain. Nvidia could even release the card and charge more than the titan 😉

Also Im not completely sure on the rumoured release date of the 1080ti but I would guess that it would be used against anything AMD releases when they release something. I mean why not keep selling the Titans instead.
Personally I would go the 1080ti if it is like the 980ti, a Titan X for a cheaper price 😉
I share your sentiments on SLi.

It sounds like you're no stranger to nvidia's song and dance either.

I think its doubtful the 1080 Ti (even a nicely OC'd one) will outperform its equivalent Titan X, but it should closely match it.

No doubt you'll win on performance per dollar if you wait out the 1080 Ti.

The only real question I think is if you're willing to wait.

If you're looking to get the most for your buck, wait for the 1080 Ti. If you don't care about the cost, buy a Titan X Pascal now.

Well shoot. Now they're saying the ti has the same structure as the Titan x but 1 gig less of ram. It's a slightly smaller bandwidth on the memory but a higher memory clock. The core clock is higher at boost than the Titan x with the same amount of cores, and they're "promising" the ability to hit 2000mhz+ in overclocking.

Statistically the ti is said to have 11.5 tf of power whereas the Titan has 11 (both at base)

35% better than the 1080 where the Titan x is only 24% better.

Same release price and the FE is to be priced on the same plane as the aftermarket cards? I'm switching.

A little odd to release a card cheaper than the Titan that outperforms the Titan as well, well Im not complaining 😉

Looks like the 1080ti is easily the bandwagon to jump onto now, that is if it does trump AMD's offerings. When they actually release.
