Hello, I plan on getting a gtx 1080 though my budget won leave any room for a cpu upgrade, my current cpu is i5 3570k, I will be using it on 1080p resolution, should I be worrying about a bottleneck ?

My other components:
Asus p8z77-v
Xfx pro 850w
8gb ram

Hello mate.

The 1080 is overkill for 1080p and is meant for 4k gaming. The 1080 will be bottlenecked my the 3570k and you would be better off with a gtx 1070 which the 3570k will still be a bottleneck but less. Point is the gtx 1080 is overkill at 1080p. Also just overclock the 3570k a little and youllt be fine with a gtx 1070.

I would have thought the 3570k would be fine with a GTX1080.
I have a 3570k, and it is almost as fast as my 4690k, which apparently is only a few % behind a skylake i5.
Only serious upgrade on a 3570k is an i7.... but very few games need more than 4 threads.

But I agree with Captain Price, if you have a 1080, you should get yourself a really, really nice monitor at the same time. 1440p minimum.

I also have 3570k OC@ 4.2 ghz with current gtx 970 with Asus p8z77-v550 psu "seasonic platnium" and 16gb ram. I'm on 1440p monitor and 970 is struggle at this resolution, I'm also considering gtx 1070 or 1080 and i wonder if the CPU will bottleneck in games at 1440p
