GTX 1080 XTREME Gaming problems

I am trying to connect my new 1080 Xtreme Gaming edition graphics card and when I power on the pc it says "Please connect the power cables for this graphics card" I tried plugging in an 8 pin and a 6 pin power connector and it didnt work. I dont think my power supply came with a dual 8 pin power connector, and the one I ordered off amazon doesnt fit the port on the card. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.
