Hello,

I just got my new GTX 1080 Zotac AMP Extreme, and this is my first time putting a graphics card into a pc by myself.

I ran into a problem and hope for some help here.

There's two 8 pin connections on the graphics card, the card came with two 8 pin cables which both split into 2 x 6, which means 24 total (as seen in the pictures)

I am kinda lost and don't know what cables to buy (The PSU box with cables is gone). What cables do I need to buy?

Thank you!

Daniël

Solution
No, don't use those.
You'll get an 8 pin connector that goes into the PSU.
That will have a daisy chained connection on it, with two separate heads. Each head has a two pin offshoot hanging off, those two pin pieces turn the 6 pin heads in to 8 pins that are required by your card. It's literally one cable you're looking for that will work that whole card just fine.

It looks like this, and explicitly says PCIe, and will have two daisy chained connections.

Hey, I'm using the Corsair AX 760, sorry i'm a complete noob.

Hey, my Corsair AX760 has 8 pin slots, but I don't know what cables I need.

You'll need to get the cableset that comes with it, or get another set of PSU cables. All the ones I can find are "aftermarket" sleeved cables. At that price you'd almost be better of getting a new PSU, or just going with custom colors you like.

There may be other website that do sell the standard cable set for the PSU.

Once you get the standard set you'll see the correct cable you need.

Most of my confusion comes from the fact that the cables I got with my card split up into 24 holes.
I know that I need two 8 pin slots on my PSU (which it has) but I don't know what cable to use for connecting to all 24 holes.

Ohh, thanks a lot man!

They include those just in case they are needed, they really shouldn't be used for high end hardware though. They shouldn't be necessary with any decent supply that offers two 6+2 connectors, yours does.

If the problem is that you no longer have your PSU cables you'll need to buy some compatible ones like these:

I looked on their website but didn't see individual cables compatible with my AX760, I saw AX750 tho but according to this chart they aren't compatible...

ideas?

I contacted the Corsair forum rep , to clarify , they answer in a timely manner.

Hello you probably sorted this out already but going to give you my advice anyway.
first of you you do need a good PSU with a lot of amps down the 12v rails at least 75 amps i think. and make sure it,s a modular psu
that card needs a lot of power. hope this helps.

75A @ 12V is 900 W. You don't need a 900 W PSU to run a GTX 1080, not even close...
Also, modular PSUs are a matter of convenience and how much space you have in your case, has nothing to do with whether a PSU is capable of running a given setup.
