GTX 1080ti for DSR 4k?

I couldnt afford a graphics card due to insanely high prices and I actually now have money for a GTX 1080ti and I can buy it and I kinda do want the highest performance, but the problem is I will game on my TV which is Sony Bravia 55 inch, its only a 1080p display. Gtx 1080ti is for 4k normally but I only have a 1080p display. I just want to ask, can I still use DSR- Nvidia Dynamic Super Resolution to 4k. And I've seen some footages, its pretty damn close to 4k. Please do note I wont play alot of fps games thats why Im ok gaming on a tv.

Is it worth it tho?

Gaming on a 55 inch TV really seems impossible to me! 1080p gaming won't look so good and won't seem smooth because of the screen size. The GTX 1080Ti isn't a good choice for the situation either. I suggest you get a nice 27-32 inch 4K monitor and play games there with a GTX 1080 Ti at 4k.

Thanks but I cant afford a 4k monitor. DSR is my option, I have a 1080p monitor but sometimes I like to lay back and play some games on my tv. And pardon, I play games on my tv, its smooth 60 fps

Costco has a LG 4k 27" for $300
Also amazon had a no name, maybe a spectre or something like that 4k for either $230 or $250.
