Question GTX 1080ti Gaming OC 11gb - Benchmark question

Hi there,

recently bought a used Gigabyte 1080TI Gaming OC 11gb card on a local Brazilian "amazon" (called mercado livre) and I would like to know if I should be worried considering performance on a few games I have tested.. or any other red flags related to performance that I should be aware of to make sure the product I bought is ok.

I made sure to test a bit before asking here, also looked in the Bottlenecking guide.. which seems to show I dont have a bottleneck in my system (results also seem to confirm this but I'm no expert)

I have attached GPU-z data from the card and also a few benchmark results.

First Question, any red flags with the GPUz data?

Second, how do the following benchmarks look?

MSI Tomahawk B350

Ryzen 5 1600 3.2ghz

16gb Hyperx Fury DDR4 2400mhz

Kingston SSD 240gb

Gigabyte GTX 1080TI Gaming OC

Benchmark Tools Results

• Firestrike (Standard test): Score 19828
• Timespy (Graphics score only): Score 9610
• Valley 1080p 8x AA: Score 4847, 115fps
• Heaven 1080p 8x AA: Score 3528, 140fps

** PS here, in the timespy test, when doing the full standard benchmark I get a crash within the first 10 seconds of the CPU test every time. Display shuts off and I have to restart computer (could be something off with my CPU overclock).

Games Results

• CSGO
  • LOW Settings : 200-240fps Mirage with 16 players
  • High Settings 1080p: 200-250 fps Mirage with 16 players

• Total War Warhammer 2 - 1080p Ultra
  • Battle Benchmark: 89fps
  • Campaign Benchmark: 83fps
  • In game Test - Map: 100-120fps (GPU Usage 100%)
  • In game Test - Battle: as low as 30fps - 80fps (GPU Usage falls to around 50%)

• Escape from Tarkov - 1080p Med Settings (Labs): 90-120 fps

• GTA V - 1080p Ultra DX11: 80-120fps (90-100% GPU, 50% CPU)

• Witcher 3 - 1080p Ultra: 100-120 fps

You said CPU is at 3.2GHz but mentioned CPU overclock?

Those benchmark scores & gaming FPS are about right for the 1080 ti.

The things that are hurting your performance is the memory as 2400 is too slow for Ryzen. Going from that to 3000 (for B350/x370) or 3200 (for B450/X470) would probably increase your performance 10-15 FPS and overclocking your 1600 would probably give a few more FPS as well.

Sorry, just meant the stock value... OCd its at around 3.8ghz... but given the crash during CPU testing in timespy im guessing it isnt a stable OC.

Yeah... I had the same feeling.. there are 2 that stand out. Total War which seems to be bellow the benchmarks i've seen and CS GO which is still an FPS mistery to me.

Im guessing CPU performance is impacting my frames?

Thanks for the recomendation, will definitely look at upgrading my RAM to 3000 mhz. The 1080 TI + new EVGA gold PSU were the 1st steps, TI was at a very good price for Brazil so I thought I would get that until the RTX becomes a more viable option. Next upgrades are the RAM you mentioned, z390 MB and a I79700k.

I have no idea about Total War, but CSGO is more CPU dependent game.

Yea CSGO is odd, with your specs even with the slower memory I'd expect higher FPS. Hold off on going Intel, at least until Ryzen 3rd gen comes out as the specs look impressive.

Ok, just got 16gb trident g,skill 3200 mhz. Ive always had AMD and wanted to try something else...i'll take a look at the new ryzen specs.
